Do you know Wayang (the Shadow Puppets) ? Wayang is a Javanese word for theatre (literally "shadow"). When the term is used to refer to kinds of puppet theatre, sometimes the puppet itself is referred to as wayang. Performances of shadow puppet theatre are accompanied by gamelan in Java, and by "gender wayang" in Bali.
Now, do you realize that Wayang is considered an animation? Wayang that is being displayed is moved according to the storyline. It just happened to be moved manually by human hand only. When the convensional animated cartoon to be animated with the help of computers program. And it must go through various processes so that a hand drawing or sketching can be moved, even into two or three dimensional object.
And do you know it turns out the puppet is the world's oldest animation. Even when the electronics and computer technology has not been found, the puppet show has complied with all animation elements, such as: screens, moving images, dialogue and musical illustrations. Great huh?! This time we're going to discuss about the animation.
Animation
"Animation" discovered from the latin name anima, the "animating principle", the vital force inside every living creature. which means soul, life, spirit. According to Wikipedia, the animation is a movie that is the result of hand-drawn image processing so that it becomes a moving image. At the beginning of its discovery, animated films are made of sheets of drawing paper which is then rotated so that it appears the effect of moving images. With the help of computers and computer graphics, animated film-making becomes very easy and fast.
12 basic principles of animation
- Straight ahead action and pose to pose
- Squash and stretch
- Anticipation
- Staging
- Follow through and overlapping action
- Slow in and slow out
- Arcs
- Secondary action
- Timing
- Exaggeration
- Solid drawing
- Appeal
2D animation
2D animation figures are created and/or edited on the computer using 2D bitmap graphics or created and edited using 2D vector graphics. This includes automated computerized versions of traditional animation techniques such as of , interpolated morphing, onion skinning and interpolated rotoscoping.
2D animation has many applications, including analog computer animation, Flash animation and PowerPoint animation. Cinemagraphs are still photographs in the form of an animated GIF file of which part is animated.
3D animation
3D animation is digitally modeled and manipulated by an animator. In order to manipulate a mesh, it is given a digital skeletal structure that can be used to control the mesh. This process is called rigging. Various other techniques can be applied, such as mathematical functions (ex. gravity, particle simulations), simulated fur or hair, effects such as fire and water and the use of motion capture to name but a few, these techniques fall under the category of 3D dynamics. Well-made 3D animations can be difficult to distinguish from live action and are commonly used as visual effects for recent movies. Toy Story (1995, USA) is the first feature-length film to be created and rendered entirely using 3D graphics.
Animation functions; convey ideas impossible done by the live action, human. So it can create strange characters.
Almost everyone liked the animation, moving images and unique characters are created. So do you, right?! :D

I like 3D animations more than any cartoon movies out there.. Because it's more lively than a drawing.
ReplyI'm a big fan of 3D animation movies, they were a total fascination not just for kids. Only true artists could come up of something like that.
