Sometimes graphic designers get stuck about what to write in their personal blogs, it may happen because they are usually familiar with their visual work. Though media publications such as blog will be very effective for online marketing purposes at this time.
If the problem is just about the need to spare time to write it certainly can be planned in advance, Just usually when leisure time has come, the idea of writing doesn't come and we ended up just enjoying other people's blogs.
Here are a few sparks of ideas (the easiest way and even to the way that requires more effort and time) that can help you to start writing a blog as a graphic designer. Believe me, this time the power of blogs is not just about personal journal and a pour of mind. Blogs can be used as a medium for marketing and personal branding. It would be nice if it later turns out you can get a project or work from the blog that you maintain, is not it?
1. Post your portfolio
Ok, I know you guys would have guessed this, you only need to provide time to present it well and then publish it. For an added value as well as written exercises, also include the concept of your portfolio, even an experimental work also need a basic idea, so each piece should have a story. From here you will get used to writing and arranging the words.
2. Daily sketch
better documenting your sketches into your blog instead they scattered on your desk and even worse, wasted. The sketch has more value because it'is made by your own hand (drawing manually) and there's always a story behind every sketch. You can find the sketches as a daily visual journal just like a
photo blog concept.
3. Work experience
If you have a unique experience while working. Whether it's working with clients, the printing problems, coordinating programmer, you can just write your experiences because the stories about personal experiences related to one's profession should be interesting to read. And also they will come with tips, so unpleasant incident will not happen again.
Positive experiences can also be interesting, but a negative experience and our understanding to anticipate similar problems in the future, will be more interesting to readers. :D
4. The design process
Document the project that you think is cool and prestigious. It could be sketches, reference search, moodboard, client response, even the final result of your work. In addition to showing you as a professional designer, it will attract many readers' attention and encourage them to comment on the blog.
5. Compilation and Linking
Do you like to collect other people's work to make them become your reference? Good, but from now on do not use just for yourself, share it with others
I remember once when I was in college, I had often to 'save as' works of design that I like from the internet. Previously it only for personal consumption, but now with sharing, we will help others as well. And of course your blog visitors will increase if you are consistent in this way.Expand your networking!
6. Redesign
Rather than complain and berate bad design would be better if you make your own version and post in your blog. Don't forget to write your reasons and concepts to redesign. This would be more convincing potential clients that often read your blog.
7. Tutorials
I believe that every person can teach others and willing to share their knowledge. But usually we feel do not have time to make a tutorial, basically it can be started with a design technique that we often use.
Effort and time required to write tutorials is quite a lot, but the results will be great as well. If the tutorial was interesting, high traffic can definitely be achieved, you can also be considered the most mastered on certain techniques (expertise), finally? free marketing on the internet!
So what are you waiting for? Just start writing! :D

Wow, these are great ideas! I always dread updating my blogs because usually I don't have any topic in mind to write about at all. I usually just post updates to my website or new designs but ugh, it seems so boring and tedious. I never thought to blog tutorials before though. The compilation and redesign ideas are just brilliant! These ideas are going to go a long way in making my blog posts a lot more fun and interesting.
