The more rigorous competition in a business segment, the greater awareness of the importance of the brand growing among the perpetrators. It's not just small companies, but also well-established companies, too shaky and immediately take action to improve the quality of their brand. Redesign of logo GAP in 2010 perhaps the most fatal since so much criticism from various parties. While the Starbucks Coffee logo change feels more neutral and acceptable despite also received criticism. And recently, NBC Universal, one of the largest television network in the world took steps are no less controversial, iconic symbol that peacock was thrown out and replaced with the logo style of typography.
NBC Universal's New Logo
NBCUniversal is an American television network, headquartered in the GE Building, Rockefeller Center, New York City. This company is a combination of two companies, namely NBC and Vivendi Universal Entertainment. NBCUniversal operates more than 20,000 TV channels, both in America and International.
The new logo NBCUniversal use serif fonts (legged) who pointed like copper, it seemed bold and straightforward. This logo was designed by Wolff Olins, one of the top logo designers in the world. Besides the logo, there are also changes in the name of the company, namely NBCUniversal (no spaces). Rietje Gieskes, Associate Design Director at Landor Associates spoke, related to the redesign logos NBCUniversal total also highly controversial.
"Today NBCUniversal acts as an umbrella brand for a large variety of entities. Presently, it owns a total of 41 companies, only 14 of which are associated with the NBC and Universal brands. Thus, it is logical for the corporate entity to be brand neutral and to not play favorites with the legacy properties".
As a company that has many subsidiaries, NBCUniversal safe to take steps to create a logo that is neutral and can be correlated with other divisions with great ease.

At the firt look i didn't like it but when i see how it's look on subsidiars logo's, i change my mind. Now i know why they change it!

It is always unacceptable in the beginning but after sometime no one gives a darn!!!
