How to Design a Unique and Attractive Business Card?

How to Design a Unique and Attractive Business Card
Many say that a business card is the first impression. And indeed as designers, we should be able to make a positive first impression. We have met many people who measure the level of creativity of a designer through his business card. Well, actually it's not only designers, but many types of professions and any such person.

So how to design a unique and attractive business card?

Here are some tips and inspiration that you can use when you want to design business cards for personal or client.

1. Directly To the Point

When people receive a card in the middle of a conversation or acquaintance, they certainly will not spend much time reading it (maybe 5-10 seconds). After that, the person will usually continue the conversation, or may praise your name card. So I would advise you to put just the info you want to highlight on the card. People should be easily and quickly find out the profession, full name and your contact number.

You can also use copywriting (writing system) of interest. Maybe with a few words that are provocative or funny, essentially "make it memorable from the first time".

2. Avoid excessive use of fonts

The basic rule is actually applicable to all types of design, not just a business card. Do not get your name card looks like a closeout letter. In addition to discomfort in reading, it also does not look visually beautiful. Use only two font types (maximum) for the name / logo and for content (phone number, website address, etc.).

3. No need to list all services

Business card isn't brochure, so do not put them all into a business card if for example you have 10 service.Cause it will just look cheap.

You better show only the main service only. For example, a printing company can simply use the "Printing" as a service, the rest as flyers, brochures, banners, mugs, and others do not need to be displayed on the card. Rest assured, by putting forward one of the services / our strengths, it will definitely look more professional.

4. Choose between minimalist or maximalist

Don't fall somewhere in between. If you want a minimalist look, never mind if you do just be a waste of paper (because there will be very much white space!), and you can reinforce your minimalist design using extraordinary paper materials. Or if you don't want a minimalist style then don't make it look half-way (that does not mean all white space to fill to the brim).

5. Provide some interactive elements

Try to find a new concept instead of an ordinary sheet of business cards only. I've seen the design of business cards that can turn into a car. Or another one that is more simple: a draft card which when opened will display a pop-up (such as greeting cards).

But there is a shortage of in this way, uncommon shape/size of business cards will make people be hard to keep them in their wallets that in fact designed for a standard business card size (2x3.5 inches). But this still can be disguised by the surprise factor, people will surely remember who made the cards with such concepts.

6. Try different finishing method with different paper materials too.

Perhaps with the card printing on a fabric, then sewed it manually onto a piece of cardboard will make it look more attractive. Or use a type of textured paper, or recycled paper, which can not be torn, and others.

For the finishing phase, can use embossing techniques, deboss, spot UV, laser cutting, foil, anything. Of course adjusted to the needs of the design you have created.
